January was another very busy month and a great start to the New Year. Residents have been reminiscing throughout the month about the New Year and New beginnings as well as taking part in a wide variety of Activities. Here are just a few things our Residents have been up to during the month.

On Sunday 4th January residents enjoyed an afternoon out at the Panto. St Phillips and James Church, Kings Road invited Residents to a performance of Aladdin which was their yearly parish pantomime. It was a wonderful afternoon of entertainment, full of smiles, laughs and of course “boos”, the residents were especially taken with the special effects fluorescent dancing skeletons.

On Wednesday 14th January Residents took a trip to Hill House for an afternoon of Singing for fun with Crondall Community Group. It was a great afternoon and the Residents really enjoyed singing along to some very well-known favourites.

Throughout the month Residents have also enjoyed Singing for the Brain with Barbara Raynor, the Kings Singers, Musical, Holy Communion, cooking club, and Afternoon tea parties.

Residents got to see a fabulous array of Nepalese dancing on Friday 23rd of January performed by the staff at Hill House. The staff dressed in their bright and beautiful national dresses to entertain the Residents for the afternoon, it truly was a spectacular sight. The Residents thought their national dresses were so pretty and it was the talk of the afternoon.

On Monday 26th January Residents got to celebrate Burns Night by sampling some good old Scottish food. Haggis, neeps and tatties were the order of the day followed by a traditional Scottish Cranachan, washed down with tot of whiskey. The afternoon concluded with a Burns Night party at Hill House with a spot of Scottish sword dancing provided by our very own Activity Coordinators.

This busy month ended with our Charity quiz night on Friday 30th January at Hill House. Staff, Residents and relatives joined together in a fun night to raise monies for our great charity “Families Supporting Care”. A great evening was had by all, with many thanks to all those that attended, and who continue to show their support for our Charity.

Look out for more details of fund raising events throughout the year, in March a couple of staff members and their families are taking part in the Three Peak Challenge and the next Charity Quiz will be at Woodlands in April.
