With the theme “Spring Celebrations” March has been a very busy month with Residents having many things to celebrate including Easter and St Patricks Day. They have also been reminiscing about the start of spring and all the wonderful changes in colour in the garden. Here are in more detail, some of the things the Residents have been up to throughout the month.

On Friday 4th March Residents from all 3 homes enjoyed a trip out to Badshot Lea Garden Centre. Residents really enjoyed looking at all the colourful spring baskets and tubs as well as visiting the aquatic and small animal section. A lovely morning was finished off perfectly with a well-earned cup of tea and some very tasty Scottish shortbread.

St Martins Church, Ellisfield set the scene for the Residents annual snowdrop trip on Wednesday 9th March. All 3 homes joined together and took a drive through the beautiful countryside to see the wonderful array of snowdrops. St Martins Church has a huge array of snowdrops and it is the best place around to see so many together. Residents took in the scenery whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea and coffee and a biscuit or two, returning back in time for a nice roast dinner.

It was a very busy day on Friday 18th March with two celebrations in one day. During the morning staff and Residents joined together in honouring one of our Residents with a very special birthday party. Hilda celebrated her 104th Birthday with cake, flowers and a few games of pass the parcel. The lounge was filled with laughter, singing and cheers for this very special lady, who later said that she was overwhelmed by all the flowers, cakes and birthday wishes and was so very thankful to everyone that attended just for her.

During the afternoon Residents took a trip up to Hill House for a St Patricks party. Entertainment was provided by Roger who sang some traditional Irish songs as well as some well-known classics. Roger also sang some duets with his very funny puppets which delighted the Residents and staff. The Residents had a great afternoon laughing, singing and dancing, finishing off with a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake.

On Friday 25th March, Resident’s enjoyed another very busy day, the morning started off with a very special visit from the local Grenadiers scooter club. Several members of the club arrived on various scooters and donated Easter Eggs to all our Residents and staff. Residents got the chance to talk to the riders about their scooters and even had a sit on them. We would like to sincerely thank the scooter club for their very generous donation and giving their time to visit the Residents.

Later in the morning Residents took a trip to the Tweseldown pub for a drink and a natter, and we held our annual Easter bonnet parade in the afternoon. Residents had been very busy making their bonnets throughout March and it was a chance to see them in all their glory. The hats were judged by the home’s owner Alison and the Managers daughter Ashleigh. It was a very difficult decision as they were all so wonderful and so much effort had been put into them. Congratulations to everyone that took part and to the worthy winners.
