The staff at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd Farnham turned heads on Friday 15th July with their 10 mile walk for charity raising over £2000!

A large group of staff members from Hill House walked 10 miles down through Ewshot and Church Crookham onto the Basingstoke canal to Dogmersfield where they stopped for drinks at the Queens Head. Then back through Church Crookham and up the huge hill, all to support the charity “Families Supporting Care” Woodlands and Hill Brow’s own registered local charity that helps relieve financial hardship for families that struggle to provide the care there loved ones need.

The group set off from Hill House Nursing Home at 10am in their brightly coloured walking gear with their sponsorship vests attached. The staff had been raising sponsorship prior to the event,  lots of families and friends of Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd were more than happy to sponsor the event as many of them had either received help or knew someone who had from the charity in the past. Local businesses and Tesco Aldershot also supported the event sponsoring the staff, taking part to help raise funds for this worthy cause.

The charity was founded by Alison Lee in September 2011 established as a result of her concerns over the distress caused to residents and families of care homes when they run out of money. Whilst local authority funding provides for a significant part of their care, a top up is usually needed and this is where the charity may be able to help with a grant.

The staff returned to a fanfare reception, with residents waiting to applaud their efforts, refreshments and some homemade cakes were greatly welcomed on their return. Tesco in Aldershot also provided free refreshments during the walk, Woodlands and Hill Brow would like to thank them for their continuing support to their homes.  The Lee Family have kindly said they will double what the staff have raised and collected through sponsorship, well done everyone for a great effort on the day!
