After a very busy Christmas and New Year we don’t slow down much at Woodlands. With all our weekly quizzes, games and clubs like Arts and Crafts, Cookery, Knit and Natter, chair exercise classes as well as the entertainers visiting and trips out, we are still all go.
It was a fairly relaxing New Years Day with a Word Search quiz in the morning followed by Popcorn and a film in the afternoon. On the 2nd we played lounge basketball and skittles which is really good fun.
After lunch we celebrated a very happy 90th Birthday with Joan.
On the 3rd in the morning we had hangman and balloon bounce in the lounge and in the afternoon the delightful Terry Owens performed for us. We just could not resist having a dance too.
On Monday the 6th Connie and her owner visited with everyone in the home. Connie is one of our favourite Pet Therapy visitors.
On Tuesday we had quizzes games and puzzles.
On Thursday after our Movement Class with the lovely Becky our Physio, we had a lively musical sing along in the main lounge with musical instruments to play along.
We choose to do pencil colouring for our Arts and Crafts Club on the 10th.
We had a trip out in the afternoon to Hill House. Where they had a wonderful singer named Chloe. After which we enjoyed fresh ice cream.
Monday the 13th we enjoyed our armchair exercise class in the main lounge with our teacher Di.
After lunch, one of our regular performers entertained us with a lively set of songs. Some of us couldn’t resist as dance.
Every week we have buckets of fresh flowers delivered to the home. These are put into various vases by some of our talented residents and placed around the home.
On Wednesday some of us chose to go for a trip out to Poppies. We love to meet up for a chat over a cup of tea and a cake.
The lovely Portia with her amazing voice sang for us on the 16th. A pure delight to listen to.
On the 18th we decorated our individual place mats in our Arts and Crafts Club.
In the afternoon Peter played the piano for us at Hill House while we waited for the main act to begin.
On the 20th Fiona visited with Alison’s pigmy goats. The residents love to make a fuss of these funny little characters.
Terry is definitely a favourite with the ladies as he sings some lovely ballads with his deep powerful voice.
Rebecca our physio had a full class on Thursday. She definitely gets us moving and stretching.
Monday the 27th we visit Redfield’s Garden Centre along with some friends from Hill House after a wonder around the stalls and plants we stopped for a cup of tea and biscuits.
In the evening of the 28th we put a team together for the quiz night at Hill Brow. We didn’t win but it was great to see everyone including family, friends and staff joining in and we raised £700 toward the charity close to our hearts Families Supporting Care.
