On Monday 23rd Daphne celebrated her 98th. Birthday. Daphne enjoyed wearing the special Woodlands Birthday hat as staff and residents sang ’Happy Birthday’. Afterwards, Daphne enjoyed a facetime session with her niece whilst her other niece delivered a lovely cake and flowers.
Residents at Woodlands also received a batch of hand-written letters and postcards from the year 11 pupils at Calthorpe Park School each with a wonderful message. It has really put a smile of the faces of the residents as they work their way through reading these uplifting messages.
Everyday we have quiz’s, bingo or board games in the lounge. A firm favourite is word search where we try to find as many words as we can in an allotted time.
On Tuesday 24th it was such a lovely spring day we enjoyed going out into the garden to enjoy the beautiful sunshine and spring flowers in the courtyard garden. We saw the first butterfly of the season a ‘Brimstone Yellow’. We then enjoyed a Spring themed quiz, and tea as well as a lovely sing-song under blue skies!
On Wednesday 25th the Cookery Club was busy icing and decorating freshly made cupcakes. They must have been good as every single last one was enjoyed at tea time!
On Thursday 26th , we enjoyed arranging the lovely Spring flowers delivered and we played a flower themed ‘Hangman’ as our group activity.
During the afternoon they were busy with preparations for Easter painting 23 eggs ready for the display. Next week we will decorate and display these.
On Friday 27th our movement session was ball games and chair-based exercises.
This was followed after lunch by a tea themed quiz and fascinating facts before the ‘Time for Tea’ tea tasting where we sampled everything from red berry and peppermint tea, to Earl Grey in proper bone china cups. We also enjoyed a ‘teapotted’ history of tea and a tea themed sing-song including ‘Tea for Two’ and ‘Everything Stops for Tea!’ We finished the session with a good old British cup of tea and biscuits which was our favourite by far!
On Saturday 28th Waitrose at Fleet Service station sent flowers to all the residents and staff at Woodlands. This really brightened our day and we were overwhelmed by their kind generosity!
On Sunday after a relaxing morning reading the Sunday papers. Some of us had a walk in the gardens. The spring flowers look so lovely.
Afterwards we chose to colour rainbows for our Arts and Crafts Session.
