Due to the Coronavirus pandemic there have been some changes to the activity’s residents have been used to enjoying but here at Woodlands the residents have still had fun and enjoyed activities both inside and outside in our lovely private and safe garden.
As per our normal routine, every morning we have some form of physical exercise. This week we have had chair-based exercises, balloon bounce, and ball games. In the afternoons we continued to run our Arts and Crafts and Cookery Clubs. This week’s themes have been St Patricks day, a wine tasting and of course there was Mother’s Day on Sunday. We have also continued with our organised quizzes, word searches, and giant crossword.
We started the day on the 16th with our armchair aerobics class. Everyone really loves joining in.
Afterwards we had a lovely sing along of our favourites, with our talented Louis on the piano.
After lunch we had a little party to celebrate Raymond’s 92nd. Birthday.
Tuesday 17th, was St. Patrick’s Day, with everything themed Irish we enjoyed a quiz, a small Guinness and fun as some danced along to some traditional Irish music.
Wednesday, we played bingo and board games in the lounge and then in the afternoon, as we had a beautiful spring day we had a walk around the garden and a chat in the sunshine.
On Thursday 19th, as part of our Flower Arranging Club, we enjoyed arranging the buckets of fresh flowers we receive into vases and places around the home.
On Friday 20th we had a Cheese and Wine Tasting. We sampled six different wines from all over the world, whilst we savoured Cheddar, Wensleydale, Stilton and Brie. After a few glasses it was no surprise the afternoon ended in an impromptu sing-a-long. One lady said it was the most enjoyable afternoon she’d spent since moving in to Woodlands!
On Sunday 22nd Mother’s Day. We received lots of gifts, cards, flowers and chocolates from family who couldn’t see their loved ones. Lots of residents were able to see their family through Facetime and Skype sessions organised by the staff.
