It has been another wonderful week at Woodlands with plenty of glorious sunshine, activities, wildlife quizzes and so much more.

Monday 11th. May saw us doing our chair-based exercises. Here Kath who is a great participator in physical activities is working at hard at ‘swimming’ one of the many arm exercises!

This was followed by a focus for the day on birds and included a bird identification quiz, fascinating facts, word search and even a sing-a-long with bird themed songs.

On Tuesday 12th. may we enjoyed ball games and a finished our ‘Bird Brain’ quiz during the morning.

In the afternoon we found out about the origins of the limerick enjoyed listening to funny limericks and even wrote our own to celebrate National Limerick Day 13th. May.

There was an old man from Fleet

Who was extremely fast on his feet

He ran up the hill after taking a pill

And turned as white as a sheet!


There was a young lad from Fleet

Who went to the pub for a treat

He drank way too much beer

And turned very queer

And fell into Fleet pond with

a shriek!

On Wednesday 13th. May we all saw the chiropodist during the morning and then in the afternoon we enjoyed the giant crossword and had an impromptu sing-a-long. Peter our amazing resident pianist entertained us and received a hearty round of applause.

On Thursday 14th. May we got physical with our chair-based exercises, and some of us enjoyed arranging the flowers.

Evelyn arranged fresh flowers to brighten her own room.

During the afternoon the gardening club checked the progress on their seedlings and we started work on our VE day Commemorative scrapbook and ‘rainbow hands’ artwork for our Thank you cards to Calthorpe Park and Heatherside schools.

Peggy helped work on the VE Day Commemorative scrapbook where her own newspaper cutting of her very own VE Day street party in Christchurch 75 years ago will feature.

On Friday 15th. May the Cookery Club got busy icing cupcakes with ‘icecream cone’ decorations to be enjoyed at tea in the afternoon.

We enjoyed a reminiscence activity about the sea side places we used to enjoy as well as a seaside themed quiz ahead of our fish and chip shop lunch.

For lunch we enjoyed traditional fish and chips and mushy peas from the local fish and chip shop that opened up especially for us and delivered to us as well.

Over the course of Friday, we also enjoyed having our hair done ‘safely’ by Debbie and Nicola

(Woodlands team household) as well as foot spa treatments if we wanted them.

We also enjoyed musical bingo in the garden in the lovely sunshine.

On Saturday Peter played the piano for us again and we had a sing-along.
