Woodlands had another successful and productive week. We did some cooking. We had our feet massaged, did some arts and crafts therapy, exercises and had some lovely garden walks every day. We learned some poetry and many more. We are having more and more residents engaging in our activities every day.
Woodlands started the week with a game of bingo with one of our volunteers. The residents earned many delicious chocolates for participating. It was really good to have most of our residents joining in.
We definitely could not miss out on our favourite form of exercise, the parachute game.
The room was filled with laughter in no time.
As the residents started the day being physically active, they preferred to spend their afternoon with colour therapy as it is peaceful and they get to socialise with each other.
Last week we had more residents participating in our chair-based exercise session. The residents have been found to be active and productive throughout the day when they start their day with exercises. They also have been persuading other residents to join in.
We made flap jacks in our cooking club last week. They were delicious and even better than what we get in the shops. They had a rich taste and the residents enjoyed them with their afternoon tea.
Our residents love the cooking club and they always look forward to it.
We had another successful physiotherapy session.
As every Thursday the residents gathered in the dining for their physiotherapy classes. It is good for their physical and mental health it is also proven to increase our self esteem and can reduce stress and anxiety.
We also received help from our residents with the flower arrangement.
Recently we have been including feet massage as part of our therapy at Woodlands. We start with soaking their feet in a warm water full of fragrance oil then move onto massage with softening and moisturizing cream and finally trimming toe nails if needed. The residents find it very relaxing.
We have got a book of amazing poems by famous poets. So, on Friday morning the poems were read by our some of our residents who volunteered to read out the poem loudly and clearly.
Hydration is key to a good health.
Even though our residents are always encouraged to stay hydrated with water and juices, having fresh fruits can be helpful to be hydrated too.
The residents were kind enough to help with making birthday cards for one of their fellow residents’ birthday. They are very creative and have had a lot of patience in them. They also showed great team work.
As every Saturday the residents spent their morning singing along with our lovely Louis as he plays all our favourites on the piano.
Throughout the week the residents played many floor games and board games. They also enjoyed the dry weather with lovely garden walks.
