The week was packed full of interesting activities and celebrations. Woodlands celebrated Chinese New Year. We held many activities including cooking club and we remained physically and mentally active throughout the week.
The week was started with a session of chair-based exercises. We started by stretching then worked on the major muscles and joints of our body.
A game of Hangman was held by one of our volunteers. Most of the residents participated and as always, they did not let David hang the man.
In our cooking club, the residents made delicious chocolate brownies together celebrating valentine’s chocolate day.
All of our residents enjoyed these brownies with their afternoon tea.
We had a pig racing on Thursday morning. The residents bet on their chosen pig and cheered for it to win. The room was filled with excitement, nervousness and laughter as everyone cheered on!
As every Thursday we had a visit from physiotherapist. The residents gathered around in the dining room and did exercises with her.
The residents were kind enough to help with flower arrangements again this week.
It always brings a smile to our residents when they have just had their hair done….
We love to celebrate lots of different cultures so we took the opportunity to learn about The Chinese New Year as we celebrated it in Woodlands.
The residents had Chinese food followed by afternoon tea in a China cup. They socialized and love the idea of afternoon tea and a natter.
On Sunday, the residents had her nails done and were pampered. They watched a movie with a glass of wine or any other preferred drink. They also helped to make decorations ready for the valentine’s day next week.
