We have started to get ready for the Platinum Jubilee in woodlands and the residents are very much looking forward to the busy 4 days ahead full of interesting activities and gatherings.
We have started to make crowns and decorated them. The resident with the best crown will be awarded a prize. We spent our Monday morning making crowns.
The Kings and Queens of Woodlands.
In the afternoon we played a game of Bingo.
On Tuesday, we started our morning by doing jigsaw puzzles while some of our residents had manicure. Our female residents like to have their nail varnish removed and changed every couple of weeks while our male residents like to have their nails very short at all times. So, we do make sure to do according to their preference.
On Thursday, we went to Farnham Mill for afternoon tea and cakes. Farnham Mill never disappoints us with their hospitality. We always feel special when we go there. The residents of Farnham Mill and our residents got along very well. They spent the whole afternoon socialising. We also had some girls from a local school visit. The residents absolutely loved their company. Not to mention the ducks who came to say hello to us.
We look forward to visiting Farnham Mill again and continue to build friendships.
On Thursday morning, the residents did chair based exercises with our physiotherapist. The residents love to start their day with a light exercise followed by garden walks.
The residents also helped by doing our flower arrangement. We met in the garden this week as the weather was very good and we did not want to miss out on it.
In the afternoon, we had Jayne come in to entertain us. The residents enjoyed her singing very much. We spent a wonderful afternoon singing and dancing along. One of our residents could not hold her tears back and deeply thanked Jayne.
On Friday morning, we continued with the crown making and in the afternoon the residents enjoyed strawberries and melted chocolate. Some of them loved it while it was too sweet for the others and just enjoyed strawberries on its own.
On Saturday morning, Louis played the piano while the residents sang along with him. Everyone always looks forward to it.
In the afternoon, we had a tea party. The residents love tea parties as it makes them feel like they are out in a restaurant and reminds them of time gone by. Everyone chats and socialises with each other more in our tea parties than on any other activities. So, we make sure to held a tea party at least once a week which is usually on a Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, the residents spent the day relaxing day as they spent time in the garden, reading newspapers and enjoying fresh fruit drinks. They also went for long walks around the garden.
