Horse racing is one of the most famous sports in England and is also known to be favourite of the Queen. We had a week devoted to Royal Ascot. We made hair accessories and hats, celebrated Ladies Day, had a wee flutter on the horses as we watched the racing live on the tv throughout the week. To top off the week we celebrated the Father’s Day.

On Monday morning, we had residents meeting. Alison asked the residents if they have any things they would like to discuss about around the food, maintenance, caring, activities and everything in general. We hold a resident meeting once a month, this gives the residents chance to let us know what they would like to improve or what they improve. This allows us to provide the best care possible.

She also brought her dog (tiny) with her.

In the afternoon, one of our care partners organised a game of giant crossword.

Since the photo booth on the queen’s jubilee was very successful, we decided to have one for the Father’s Day. This time the residents made the frame by themselves. As they worked as a group, they completed the frame within couple of days.

On Wednesday morning, the residents played hangman with one of our care partners. Every week, our care partner tries to defeat out and brings all the words on a piece of paper but our residents did not let him hang a man, once again. The residents absolutely love the game and they also appreciate our care partner for keeping them occupied and interested.

In the afternoon, one of our residents helped with making the cupcake mixture, while the others helped with icing them. We made the cupcakes pink to go well with our Ladies Day theme.

On Thursday morning, the residents very much enjoyed the word wheel. The task was to find as many words as possible by using letters of “ROYAL ASCOT” and they did an absolutely amazing job.

In the afternoon, we celebrated Ladies Day. We had a tea party with all our female residents. They wore beautiful feather hair clips, which went very well with the theme of Royal Ascot.

Since Friday was the hottest day of the year so far, the residents kept themselves hydrated with plenty of drinks and fresh fruit.

As they spent their morning by relaxing in the garden and in the afternoon, some of the residents made more cupcakes for our Father’s Day tea party.

On Saturday, we had a tea party to celebrate Father’s Day. The residents were very proud and excited to finally use the photo frame.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY FROM OUR FAMILY OF WOODLANDS TO YOURS.
