Following our musical week theme, we had a live performance by one of our entertainers, a World War II sing along, musical bingo, music quiz’s and much more.
We had a fresh start of the week with chair-based exercises. There is no better way to start your morning than some light exercises. Exercises helps us to maintain good physical as well as mental health. So, we tend to do chair-based exercises every other day in Woodlands.
After exercises, we had sing along with our morning tea/coffee. The residents really enjoy a sing along and especially the songs which were sung during World War 2. In the afternoon we played hangman and ended our day with refreshing walk around the garden.
On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, we had a live performance by Jayne. She is very energetic and professional with her singing. She sang a good mixture of sing along and pop songs. The residents enjoyed her performance with some fresh watermelon to keep hydrated.
We also had a monthly visit from the chiropodist.
Every Thursday, the residents have exercises with the our lovely physiotherapist Becky.
After finishing with the exercises, the residents were kind enough to help with flower arranging. We have fresh flowers we have delivered to the home every week. The beautiful bouquets around the homes look and smell lovely.
The residents always put an extra effort in arranging the flowers as they know what a big difference they make all around the home.
It was time for our cooking club again. As we all love scones and strawberry jam, we decided to make them ourselves.
We all agree that the homemade one’s taste 100 times better than the one we get from the shop. As a result of great team work, the scones were ready within an hour. So, the residents enjoyed them with their afternoon tea.
We had sing along throughout the week. The carers joined in for sing along on Friday afternoon. It was great to see the carers bonding with the residents while singing along.
On the weekend, we had topical discussions while having our morning tea/ coffee. The residents are always intrigued to know about the political situation of Nepal as many of the carers in our home are from Nepal.
We also had a talk about the different countries and memories about their travels and all their holiday memories.
