We have been invested in watching Wimbledon in Woodlands. Since, Monday the residents have been watching Wimbledon together in the lounge without missing a match but we still managed to do other activities in between the matches such as cooking, chair-based exercises, tea party and lots of different games.
We couldn’t have Wimbledon without strawberries and cream.
After one match, we couldn’t resist playing some games too. So, we had a quoits challenge for everyone. We enjoyed the game and we all had a giggle as we played.
As every Wednesday, one of our care partners helped with a game of hangman. This week he did names of tennis players and other words related to Wimbledon.
In between a game of Hangman, the residents had their nails done in our nail bar.
In the afternoon, we made sugar cookies. The residents absolutely enjoyed the whole process of making the cookies and also had them with their afternoon tea.
COOKIES MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND…
Best way to start the morning is to be physically active with some light but effective chair-based exercises. The residents also did chair-based exercises throughout the week.
After exercises the residents had a walk around the garden in the lovely warm weather and also helped with flower arranging.
In the afternoon, we had a table tennis tournament.
The residents absolutely loved playing table tennis. We started to get very warm after just a few minutes and the game was were very competitive. The carers also joined in for a couple of games.
We started our Saturday with a sing along. Louis played the piano beautifully as he does every Saturday and the residents joined in.
In the afternoon we had a tea party. We welcomed our new resident as she introduced herself to everyone at our tea party. She settled in very well as everyone had a good chat which is the main motivation of our tea parties.
On Sunday we did word search of the word “WIMBLEDON” and had a very relaxing afternoon with Pimm’s and lemonade.
