VIVA LA BASTILLE IN WOODLANDS

We had an absolutely amazing French week in Woodlands. We painted French flags, tried authentic French cuisine, had BBQ and many other fun activities.

On Monday, we started our day chair-based exercises. After finishing with the exercises, the residents sat in the garden and coloured French flags together.

In the afternoon, we had French cocktails tasting. The residents absolutely loved the unique taste of a French cocktail.

During the whole week, we had the option of croissants for breakfast. The residents were given the choice to have croissant with their cereal instead of toast.

On Wednesday, our chef made authentic French beef bourguignon for lunch. All of our residents loved it and most of the residents also said it brought back memories.

On Wednesday afternoon, we made our way to the Tweseldown pub for couple of drinks after lunch. The residents love going and to socialise with some of the pub’s customers.

We tend to do outing once a week as being in a new environment has a positive impact on our resident’s mental health.

It’s a wine o’clock!…

A glass of wine and cider in a pub’s garden made our residents feel nostalgic.

On Thursday we had BBQ in our garden. Summer does not feel right without our BBQ’s. The kitchen staff work together and prepared delicious hotdogs and burgers for our residents. Since, we had a beautiful weather, the residents decided to dine in the garden with a choice of Pimm’s and lemonade, gin and tonic or a glass of wine!

In the afternoon, the residents helped with arranging the flowers and decorated our home beautifully with those fresh flowers.

On Friday morning, we did a game of the word search. This game always manages to entertain and challenge our residents.

In the afternoon, we had the traditional French crepes tasting. Following the French theme. We loved the treat!

Our residents love to spend their afternoon in the garden but it’s been getting too hot to be out without a way to cool down, so this week, we put a paddle pool in our garden so that the residents could feel refreshed dipping their feet in the water.

On Saturday, we had a French cheese and wine tasting. We had varieties of French cheese and our residents absolutely loved them all.

On Sunday, the residents very much enjoyed quoits challenge and had a very productive day.

We are very thankful to our residents for helping out in the kitchen and it help them feel a sense of helping too, a win win.
