Our sports week theme had our residents being very productive physically throughout the week.

We spent our days in trying all sorts of different sport such as table tennis, mini golf and playing parachute games etc. The residents also spent most mornings doing chair-based exercises.

On Monday, we started our day by playing mini golf. We turned our lounge into a mini golf putting green. The residents loved joining in.

After the game of mini golf, the residents joined in for parachute games.

In this week’s cooking club, we made delicious chocolate brownies. We all agreed that the home-made chocolate brownies taste ten times better than the ones we buy in the shops. Especially as they are made with love by our residents.

The brownies were enjoyed by the residents with their afternoon tea.

A walk around the garden for some fresh air is a must in this weather.

On Wednesday morning, the residents explored the garden and were again mesmerised by the different flowers and the fish we have in our beautiful small ponds.

Our residents love quizzes. They love a historic or geographical quiz and of course a general knowledge quiz.

On Wednesday evening, Hillhouse (one of the 4 homes) held a brilliant quiz night. Debbie and I, took two of our residents along. The quiz night was held between 7pm and 9pm. There were plenty of refreshments and a delicious buffet of finger food. Not to mention the selection of yummy cakes. We were all very competitive and thoroughly enjoyed answering the quiz questions together. Unfortunately, we did not win this time but we will be well prepared for next time.

On Thursday, the residents did their chair-based exercises with the physiotherapist. The exercises focus on improving the resident’s mobility and also remove any tension in their muscles through stretches.

After finishing with exercises, the residents relaxed in the garden and helped with the flower arrangements.

Following the sports theme, we just had to include table tennis. Whenever we play table tennis the residents appear hesitant at first but after 5 mins, they play amazingly well and very much enjoy the game.

On Saturday morning, Louis played piano for us. We always look forward to the sing along with Louis.

In the afternoon, we had a tea party in the garden. Many of the residents had their family visit them and it was absolutely lovely to see them reunite.
