As we approach the last few weeks of summer 2022, we want to celebrate this beautiful time of the year. A time when we get a time off from school and work and to go on a holiday with our family and friends.
Our residents have been on many of summer holidays with their families, we have had a wonderful time reminiscing about the holidays we have had and time we have spent with family.
On Monday morning, we did chair-based exercises. Recently, we have been starting our morning with chair-based exercises before we head on to do any of our scheduled activities. The residents find the exercises to be very beneficial. After exercises, we played a game of Quoits. It is a very entertaining game which brings all of our residents together.
On Tuesday, we enjoyed a series of parachute games. Parachute games are another enjoyable form of exercises. It includes hand movement and stretching of back muscles. Our residents absolutely love these games.
Our residents adore animals. We often get visits from dogs, kittens, ponies and goats. On Tuesday, we had a visit from two goats. They are always so friendly whenever and everyone enjoys their company and fed them well.
They tickle our hands as we feed them which always gets a giggle from the residents.
On Wednesday, we did bowling and kept hydrated with delicious ice cream sundaes.
On Thursday morning, the residents had a physiotherapy session with the lovely Becky. After finishing some of the residents helped with flower arranging.
We have been going on outing every week. Everyone loves the trips out and travelling on our mini bus to the planned destinations.
This week on Thursday afternoon, we went to the Squire’s Garden centre.
The garden centre offers not only plants and flowers but also a variety of animals and fish to look at.
We had a walk around the garden centre as soon as we got there then settled down in their café for afternoon tea. We ordered a cream tea and very much enjoyed it.
Delicious cream tea.
On Friday morning, we did interactive word games and hangman with the summer holiday theme. These intellectual games are a great way to keep the brain active.
In the afternoon, we had a pool party in our garden. The residents loved to soak their feet in the paddling pool and enjoyed refreshing drinks i.e., wine, rose, beer etc with fresh fruits and crisps.
Louis played the piano on Saturday. Everyone loves to sing along with Louis.
As it was the weekend, we could think of nothing better than a very relaxing afternoon tea party.
The residents are fond of socialising with each other and this happens more so at our tea parties, so we make sure we hold one at least once a fortnight.
It is always so good to see our residents sharing their memories and thoughts with each other.
Throughout the week, we have had walks around the garden whenever we wanted to and also did jigsaw puzzles and other interesting activities.
