Our Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II- 1926-2022
On Thursday the 8th of September, we heard the devastating news of passing away of our Queen. Our residents are so attached to the Queen as they have lived their lives alongside hers. Some of our residents had also met the queen and joined her for afternoon tea.
This entire week we remembered the loyalty of our Queen to the nation and to the world.
Chocolate biscuit cake is known to be Queen’s choice of cake to have with her afternoon tea. So, we made chocolate biscuit cakes in the memory of our queen.
The residents very much enjoyed the whole process and were patient enough to keep it in the fridge overnight and have it the next morning with their tea.
The chocolate cake tasted delicious. Some of our residents had double a servings as they enjoyed it so much.
We did not have physiotherapist this week, but the residents still did their chair-based exercises on Thursday morning as well as every other morning throughout the week.
Our Florist was very sensible and patriotic as they sent us flowers of red, white, and blue colour this week.
The residents enjoyed arranging the flowers and decorated our home beautifully with them.
On Thursday afternoon, one of our care partners did Hangman of the countries our Queen had travelled to during her 70 years of reign.
This was very exciting for our residents as they do know a lot about our Queen and her tours.
The residents spent most of their time by watching BBC and keeping themselves updated regrading Queens funeral.
We also made a good use to our Nail bar this week. Our residents love to get their nails trimmed, filed and painted regularly.
In this week’s arts and crafts, our residents coloured the Queen’s outline drawing and we made sure to not miss out on her corgis. Our residents were very thoughtful to use bright colours on her dress as she was always seen on bright colours.
On Friday afternoon we had a grand Royal tea party.
We had delicious cupcakes and tea in our fine China cups. We also had national anthem and other royal music playing very softly in the background while our residents enjoyed their tea and cakes.
Our residents waving union jack with a pride…
We asked our residents to write few words remembering the Queen this week. Some of our residents wrote about
their favourite memory of our Queen while the others thanked her for her devotion and loyalty to the nation.
The residents then hung the notes on the tree which is placed beautifully at the entrance of our home.
