It would have been Elvis Presley’s birthday this week, so we came up with the idea of celebrating the 1950’s.

We had Elvis quizzes, sing-a-longs, cheese and wine tasting, some sport and many more activities.

On Monday, we had the giant crossword in the morning and Bingo in the afternoon.

Parachute games are a very good form of exercise. We exercise every morning in Woodlands and sometimes we switch up from regular chair based exercise to parachute games and balloon bounce which keeps our residents interested and active.

On Wednesday afternoon, we took part in arts and crafts. As it is getting closer to Valentine’s Day we started creating ready for the 14th of Feb. We all worked together, and the residents enjoyed playing with glitters.

We shall have more art and crafts for valentines as we move nearer to the day.

On Thursday morning we had a visit from the Physiotherapist. After the exercises, some of the residents helped with flower arranging.

In the afternoon, we played some sport. This included table tennis and quoits which were enjoyed by our residents.

The staff’s score was a bit embarrassing, we were quite a bit behind our residents score, in our game of table tennis.

On Friday, we had a very relaxing afternoon with cheese and wine. The staff showed up in 1950’s fashion which took our residents 73 years back from now.

The smile on your face when you have a splendid afternoon with a glass of rose and a plate full of delicious cheese and crackers.

Saturday morning, we had a manicure and pamper session, in the afternoon, we had the ultimate Elvis Presley Quiz which found the residents, staff and managers all taking part.
