We had a very special 100th birthday celebration for our lovely Joy this week, who enjoyed spending time celebrating with her family and friends here at Woodlands.

On Monday we started the week with news of the day and spending time discussing what’s going on in the world, finishing off with some gentle exercise.

Monday afternoon the residents took themselves out and about, touring the garden for some fresh air. They enjoyed taking in the sights, all the different colours, plants and immersing themselves in nature.

Tuesday morning, we enjoyed news of the day followed by balloon bounce which is always fun and makes us laugh a lot.

Then we had a rest and enjoyed being pampered, having our nails painted and a hand rub which the ladies love, then some of the residents had their monthly wash and blow dry.

Wednesday we enjoyed some time with Annabelle the physiotherapist, it is important for us to stay active and we enjoy having her visit. We called a name out then passed the ball to that person, so there was quick thinking as well as quick movement!

Wednesday afternoon, Rowena came and played some lovely relaxing background music on the piano, the residents sat back and enjoyed afternoon tea while listening. Some of residents had a go as well.

Thursday morning, some of the residents joined in a parachute game, this is always a fun way to exercise.

Friday was a lovely morning spent playing games, we played the apple box game, Quoits and then David one of our volunteers organised and led a quiz.

Friday afternoon, the lovely residents climbed aboard the bus and set off to Redfields, where they spent some time looking around the flowers, then of course a cup of tea or coffee and a good old natter with friends.

Saturday, the residents started their day with yoga chair exercises, followed with a nice cup of tea and relaxing together while reading the papers, this is always a busy time in the lounge.
