Woodlands recently celebrated ‘Famous Artists Week’ and our week kicked off with a bang with attendance of acclaimed singer/entertainer Neil Sands at Princess Hall for his show, “Thanks for the Memories.” Our residents of Woodlands along with Hillbrow eagerly awaited the arrival of Neil Sands and his team for their highly anticipated show, as they gathered in the Princess Hall, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Little did they know that they were about to embark on a nostalgic journey through the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Our residents were transported back in time as they listened to classic hits, couldn’t help but tap their feet and sing along to the familiar tunes. Many were seen swaying in their seats, lost in their own memories of their youth. The highlight of the show was the celebration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The performers paid tribute to all the soldiers who fought for their country with a heartfelt rendition of ‘We’ll Meet Again’ by Vera Lynn. The audience joined in, waving their Union Jack flags, and many were moved to tears. All in all, it was a delightful experience for our residents.
Sip And Paint
Sipping chilled drinks (Rose & White Wine) and painting while listening to Rowen playing the piano, may just be the perfect way to spend your afternoon. This unique combination of art, music and relaxation offered our residents a refreshing and enjoyable experience.
Allen Gallery, Alton
Nestled in the quaint town of Alton, the Allen Gallery is a hidden gem that offers a delightful experience to all its visitors. Our residents had the pleasure of visiting this charming gallery and it truly was an afternoon to remember. The main attraction of our trip was the special exhibition called ‘Iceland Episode II’. We also had the opportunity to explore the rest of the gallery.
The Allen Gallery is housed in a beautiful 18th-century townhouse and has a rich history. We learned about the building’s past, which was once a private residence before being converted into a gallery in the late 19th century. The staff at the gallery were very knowledgeable and shared interesting facts and anecdotes about the history of the building, making our visit even more memorable.
Staff Appreciation
Staff appreciation is a core value at Woodlands & Hillbrow Ltd. Across all four homes for 2 days, the dedicated and hardworking team of staff had a great start of the day with a lovely spread of breakfast which was followed by dinner & supper. Thanks Alison and Gabriel for consistently showing gratitude towards their team. The kitchen staff’s dedication to providing delicious spreads for everyone is commendable.
Flower Arranging
We had a wonderful time putting together a gorgeous flower arrangement, boosting our resident’s spirit and bringing smiles to their faces.
