The prestigious Wimbledon Championship, a celebrated Grand Slam tennis tournament, graced our screens last week. At Woodlands, we embraced the Wimbledon spirit with fervour and style.

From the first serve to the final match point, our residents were captivated by the thrilling matches unfolding at the All-England Lawn Tennis.

To elevate our Wimbledon experience, we transformed our home into a miniature Wimbledon Village. Fresh strawberries, the tournament’s iconic fruit, adorned our resident’s plate with luscious dollop of cream. Pimm’s cups and flutes of prosecco added a touch of refreshment to the occasion, while the aroma of freshly baked scones wafted through the air.

Air Hockey

The sporty spirits of our residents soared as they engaged in a spirited game of Air Hockey (DIY version).

Our innovative Air Hockey set consisted of a table, a puck made from a bottle cap, and glove boxes to propel the puck. The residents chose to stand and play, eagerly took turns trying to score goals. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, cheers, and friendly banter.

 Wimbledon Wordsearch & Hangman

Our residents were able to find out 113 words! Using only the letters from ‘Wimbledon Week’

We are always looking for new and innovative ways to engage our residents and enrich their daily lives. We have found that incorporating interactive and mind-stimulating games, such as wordsearches and hangman, has been a huge hit with our residents. These activities not only provide entertainment, but also offer numerous cognitive benefits.

Flower Arranging

There’s a certain magic that unfolds each week in our home, a ritual that transforms our space from simply ‘lived in’ to truly ‘loved in.’ It’s simple practice that brings a burst of colour, fragrance, and life into our residents’ everyday lives.

Every Thursday our residents gather around the dining table, with varieties of vases, and a kaleidoscope of blooms. The process itself is a symphony of sorts. Our residents carefully snipped the stems, arranged them with any eye for balance and symmetry.

This weekly ritual; extends beyond just aesthetics. It is a time for connection, for quite

conversation and shared laughter as our lovely residents create such masterpiece together.

Pimm’s, Strawberries & Cream!

As the highly anticipated Wimbledon Championship 2024 drew to a close, the residents of Woodlands couldn’t contain their excitement. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of anticipation as they gathered to celebrate the grand finale.

In the vibrant main lounge, the trolly was adorned with elegant glasses of Pimm’s and Prosecco. The sweet aroma of fresh strawberries filled the air, promising a delightful afternoon of treats.

Afternoon tea

As our residents gathered in the dining room sipping their hot drinks of choice celebrating Wimbledon, laughter and conversation filled the air. They reminisced about past Wimbledon tournaments, shared their predictions for upcoming matches, and simply enjoyed the company of each other.

For many of our residents, this afternoon tea is more than just a delightful dining experience. It was an opportunity to reconnect with a beloved tradition that had brought them joy for years. The taste of scones, cakes and aroma of tea, and the lovely atmosphere transported them back to the days of their youth.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the residents spirits were refreshed and their stomach satisfied.

Lake House

To conclude the week, our residents enjoyed a delightful outing to Lake House, Aldershot, a charming place offering breath taking lake views and delicious treats. The day was filled with laughter and a sense of contentment as our residents soaked in the beauty of the surroundings.
