A Seaside Holiday
Written by the resident of Hill Brow Residential Home for the Elderly
Once upon a time, Reese and Beryl and their 4 children decided to go for some fun at the sea. They travel to Weston-super-Mare with five children as mum was pregnant at the time. They travelled in a people carrier and managed to find a parking space on the seafront, the very last one!
They went for fish and chips straight away and they were yummy.
There was a lovely dog outside of the restaurant tied to the railings. They found out from the owner that the dog’s name was Rover.
The younger children couldn’t wait to get to the beach. They took with them their buckets and spades and mum brought the towels so they could lay on them on the beach. Dad found a deck chair for mum. They went as near to the sea as possible and set up their towels. The first thing the children did was run into the sea.
There was some rocks nearby, and one of the children found a crab in a rockpool. They lifted the crab into one of their buckets. They took the crab to mum who was terrified mum screamed and threw it back in the sea. The children were so upset they went out to look for more.
One of the children Debbie wandered off. Dad had to go along the beach looking for her once the children had woken him up. They found her in a breakfast hut. She was eating a hotdog which the vendor kindly gave to her.
Dad slipped on the rocks and thought he had broken his ankle. A tall dark handsome lifeguard came along the beach to rescue him. Mum was delighted to see the lifeguard but was sad for her husband. Mum suggested that the children build a sandcastle.
Meanwhile, the lifeguard discovered that the ankle was not broken so he strapped it up and everyone was so happy.
After the children had built the biggest of sandcastles, they all went off for ice creams.
Mum and dad decided by 4 o’clock it was time to go home as they had had enough, young Debbie got into trouble again as she fell in the water after she had changed into her dry clothes. They travelled home to Bristol where they had hot chocolate and got ready for bed, sweet dreams.
