In a celebration of one of the most vibrant countries of Asia, we brought the spirit of Nepal to life in a week-long event filled with cultural activities and insights. Renowned for its breath-taking landscapes, rich traditions, and an array of festivals. Nepal holds a special place in the hearts of those who cherish diversity. As we celebrated the essence of this remarkable nation, we couldn’t have chosen a more fitting theme, particularly with Dashain, one of the biggest festivals in Nepal, just around the corner.
Taste of Nepal – Lunch at Ozone with Farnham Mill
What a wonderful morning it was for the residents of Woodlands! Embracing the theme of the week – Nepal, our residents decided to seize the opportunity to explore the flavours and culture of this beautiful Himalayan nation.
In collaboration with our friends from Farnham Mill, a group of eager residents set off to Ozone Restaurant in Aldershot, ready to indulge in a taste of Nepal. The excitement was palpable as we arrived at the restaurant.
While Ozone may not claim to be the most authentic Nepali establishment, it delivered a delightful culinary experience that truly captured the spirit of Nepalese cuisine. From fragrant spices to colourful dishes, the menu offered a variety of options, even our residents got the opportunity to try Nepalese Lager ‘Gurkha Beer’.
Beyond the culinary delights, the true beauty of the outing was the opportunity for socialization and celebration of the Nepalese culture.
Dashain Celebration
The spirit of exploration and cultural acceptance shines brightly, particularly this past week as residents and staff dived headfirst into the vibrant culture of Nepal. Embracing the essence of this beautiful country, Woodlands transformed into a lively haven of celebration, inviting both residents and their families to embark on a journey through Nepalese traditions.
At the heart of this week’s festivities was a celebration of one of Nepal’s most significant festivals, Dashain. The choice to centre the theme around a key cultural event allowed residents to engage more deeply with the history and customs of Nepal. The staff at Woodlands went above and beyond to create an immersive experience, with an array of delicious Nepalese dishes served fresh and warm.
A particularly delightful highlight of the week was when our gentlemen got to wear the Dhaaka Topi, the traditional cultural hat often worn by Nepalese men. This small yet significant piece of attire symbolizes respect and pride, and seeing our residents don these hats was a heartwarming sight.
To fill the halls of Woodlands with joy and energy, lively Nepalese music filled the air. It was impossible to resist tapping feet and clapping hands as residents and families alike joined in the spirit of celebration.

Residents Outing to Redfield’s
As the crisp autumn air begins to paint the landscape in warm hues, there’s nothing quite like a leisurely stroll through our local garden centre to embrace the beauty of the season. Recently, we ventured into Redfield Garden Centre, excited to soak in the sights and sounds of autumn decoration. However, what awaited us was a delightful surprise that hinted at the festive spirit just around the corner.
