The excitement was in the air as we celebrated, the much-anticipated Great British Bake-off Week! This delightful event brought our residents a flurry of flour, sugar and joy as we embarked on a culinary adventure that awakened some of our resident’s fondest memories.

Baking Up a Storm

Our residents prepare for Inter-Home Bake-Off Competition

In a delightful blend of creativity and camaraderie, our residents geared up for the highly anticipated inter-home bake off competition. This exciting event not only allows our talented bakers of Woodlands to showcase their skills but also serves as a fantastic opportunity to bring all the four homes together and celebrate.

Under the expert guidance of our in-house chef, residents have been immersing themselves in the art of baking and cake decorating. The session has been brimming with laughter, joy, and a sprinkle of friendly competition.

Baking is often as much about the journey as it is about the final product. As some of the residents flourished in their newfound skills, they shared stories, tips, and even some light-hearted banter, creating an atmosphere bursting with positive energy and enthusiasm.

Birthday Celebration

One of lovely residents and her twin sister celebrated their birthday together. It was a lovely sight to witness the bond between twin sisters.

The celebration was filled with laughter, joy and a few happy tears.

Cognitive Stimulation

Apart from the culinary adventure our residents also participated in mind stimulating games throughout the week, such as wordsearches, trivia, fun facts about baking and baked goods as well as tons of quizzes which were engaging, entertaining and provided necessary intellectual labour.

Inter-Home Bake Off

It was a day filled with excitement as our residents from all four homes came together for the much awaited inter-home bake off. After days of preparation, baking, and a dash of creativity, the time had come to showcase the many delicious treats that had been lovingly crafted.

As the aroma of fresh-baked cakes wafted through the air, the atmosphere buzzed with camaraderie and joy. Residents gathered in a beautifully decorated lounge, where each home had displayed their beautiful and delicious cakes, which was a homage to their hard work and dedication. From classic flavours to unique creations, the variety was astounding.

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the friendly baking competition.

Judges- a mix of staff members and residents, who took the role responsibly and seriously. And Woodlands excelled in the ‘Most Colourful’ category!

The event wasn’t just about who would win; it was about celebrating the joy of baking together.

Baker’s Interactive Cart

In an effort to bring everyone together and a little extra joy to our residents, we recently introduced a delightful initiative – a ‘Baker’s Cart’ filled with an array of scrumptious bakery goodies. This was not merely about satisfying a sweet tooth; it was an opportunity for interaction, engagement, and connection among our residents, who embraced the occasion with enthusiasm and delight.

Charity Quiz Night at Farnham Mill

Two amazing teams, Woodlands which included our residents and few of the family members who participated in the Families Supporting Care’s Charity Quiz Night.

It was a wonderful evening where we competed against the residents and their families of all four homes.

Weekly Residents Outing

A Sweet Escape

This Bake-off week, we decided to treat our residents to a delightful outing with delicious treats and mouthwatering cakes. Originally, we had set our sight on a Summer Café, however despite prior arrangements made for the table, we encountered unexpected hurdle – no available tables. But in true adventure spirit, we quickly pivoted to our backup option: the ever-popular Lake House eatery.

The eatery was bustling with energy, filled with laughter and chatter as our residents enjoyed their cakes. To our surprise, we bumped into the residents of Farnham Mill!

So, the outing was even more special.

We quickly settled in and our residents from both homes were excited about the wide array of cakes and treats on offer.

As our residents savoured their sweet selections, they took full advantage of the breathtaking weather, some of the residents choosing to enjoy their delights outdoors. With the sun shining brightly and vibrant colours of the surrounding nature complemented the picturesque view of the lake.
